Adrenal Reset Books

So many of us are wired and tired and not sleeping well. Often times, insomnia is due to imbalanced cortisol rhythms. Here is a dietary concept developed by Dr. Alan Christianson which has helped me personally with sleep.

Normal cortisol rhythms are high in the morning and low in the evenings.  High cortisol levels make it impossible to sleep.

The crux of the reasoning behind the “adrenal reset diet” is that if you eat a higher protein to low carb ratio, cortisol is released to raise blood sugar. This helps achieve high cortisol levels which are needed in the morning. However, if you want to sleep, you need lower cortisol levels which requires a higher carb to protein ratio at dinner time.

I am now eating less protein in the evening in relation to carbs. Dr. Christianson explains how to measure protein in the palm of your hand and carbs as 1-3 golf ball sizes in measurement to make it easy.

I read about this dietary concept through Naturopathic Physician Dr. Cheryl Kasdorf’s website.
